Newcastle United's desire for a new No 1 is an open secret, with even £24m prospective siging Ewen Jaouen expected to be Eddie Howe's second-choice goalkeeper next season.
The Magpies have been linked with a series of top-level shot-stoppers already this year, with James Trafford, Robin Risser and Bart Verbruggen among the list names on their radar.
Manchester City's England keeper Trafford remains the leading contender, with the former Burnley star looking for more gametime after playing second fiddle to Gianluigi Donnarumma last season under Pep Guardiola.
Newcastle are hoping to complete the signing of Jaouen from Stade Reims in the near future, but he is expected to be a back-up to a new first-team keeper, with Nick Pope potentially moving on.

One name that has not been mentioned yet is Brentford keeper Caoimhin Kelleher, with the Irishman enjoying an impressive season at Brentford following a move from Liverpool 12 months ago.
However, former Chelsea, Aston Villa and Ireland star Andy Townsend feels he would be the ideal No 1 for Newcastle - or even Chelsea and his former club Liverpool.
"I think he's a very reliable goalkeeper," Townsend told OLGB. "He's developed into someone that I could see a bigger club than Brentford coming to take. When I look at Chelsea's goalie, I don't think he even comes close to Caoimhin Kelleher.
"Brentford know they've got a good one, but it's got to be a bigger club. Brentford had a good season, but it's got to be a club like Liverpool or Chelsea. I remain convinced that he could do that.
"He doesn't want to go anywhere now where he isn't the number one, he's shown he can handle that.
"He's the national team No 1 by a distance. The last thing he wants to do is go to a club like Liverpool and find himself playing only ten or fifteen games a season. He's done that already. If he goes anywhere, he wants to go in as a number one.
"I could totally see him going to Newcastle and being No 1 there, or Chelsea. If Alisson does decide to leave Liverpool, they could do a lot worse than Kelleher.
"They know him very well and whenever he played for Liverpool, he was always very dependable."
