Incredible US crowd reaction proves Mo Salah’s post-Liverpool superstar status

Mohamed Salah has only just left Liverpool, but he has already enjoyed a reunion with two former Reds teammates on international duty.

Salah has brought an end to his iconic nine-year Anfield career and his attention has now turned to the 2026 World Cup with Egypt.

On Saturday night, the 33-year-old took on Brazil in Cleveland, Ohio, in a friendly before the tournament starts on Thursday.

It meant that Salah was reunited with both Alisson and Fabinho, having their picture taken together before the game.

All three Liverpool greats played 45 minutes apiece, with Brazil running out 2-1 winners, thanks to goals from Bruno Guimaraes and Endrick.

Salah may not have scored his country’s goal – that honour went to Mostafa Zico – but he was still the undoubted biggest attraction on show.

At one point, the camera panned to him on the substitutes’ bench and the roar that greeted him from the crowd summed up his world superstar status.

Will legendary Liverpool trio feature prominently at 2026 World Cup?

Salah, Alisson and Fabinho are now all well into their 30s, but they are all expected to be important figures for their respective countries this summer.

The goal threat and enduring brilliance of Salah remain as vital as ever for Egypt, with the Liverpool great likely to lead the line with Man City‘s Omar Marmoush.

In truth, he has an outside chance of going far in the competition, but Egypt should progress from a group also containing Belgium, New Zealand and Iran.

As for Brazil, they go into the World Cup among the favourites, aided by Carlo Ancelotti’s brilliance and some world-class talent.

Alisson should start in goal over ex-City man Ederson, but a squad role is on the cards for Fabinho, with Casemiro and Bruno expected to start at the base of the midfield.

Seeing the trio reunited was heartwarming, with their relationship seemingly as good as ever, and Andoni Iraola has a huge job on his hands signing players of their calibre over time.
