Liverpool youngster Rio Ngumoha’s heartfelt reaction has been shared via England’s social media platforms as he described the occasion of making his senior England debut as something that left him “speechless.”

Ngumoha’s debut marked the latest milestone in what has been a remarkable rise for the teenager, who has emerged as one of Liverpool’s most exciting young talents since arriving from Chelsea in 2024.
Following the match, and as Jude Bellingham handed him the infamous England cap, the winger was made to do a speech after representing his country at senior level for the very first time.
Rio Ngumoha, who was smiling from ear to ear after also collecting the Man of the Match award, gleefully said: “Thank you everyone. I’m happy… I’m speechless. I just want to say thank you and we keep going!”
The brief but heartfelt reaction was met with a strong round of applause as Ngumoha resumed his place in the dressing room.
For a player who is still in the early stages of his career, the opportunity to pull on an England shirt at senior level represents a huge vote of confidence from England manager Thomas Tuchel and his staff.
Ngumoha’s rise over the last two seasons has been extremely impressive. Having made the switch to Liverpool amid significant interest in his potential from multiple clubs, the youngster has continued to progress through the ranks.
2025/26 was his breakthrough campaign, with the youngster featuring 19 times for Liverpool in the Premier League and registering 2 goals and 1 assist across 551 minutes in England’s top-flight.
Blessed with pace, confidence and the ability to take on defenders, Ngumoha has repeatedly shown why Liverpool believe he has such a bright future ahead of him and now England have clearly taken note.
Rio Ngumoha only entered the pitch after half-time against New Zealand but emerged at full-time as the player who completed the most dribbles and won the most duels during the match.
Whilst the teenager’s immediate reaction focused on gratitude, his final words “we keep going” offer the clearest insight into just how strong this player’s mentality is.
Liverpool will undoubtedly be delighted to see one of the club’s brightest young stars reach another landmark moment.
Judging by his trajectery so far, this may be only the beginning of a long and successful England career.
