Philippe Coutinho has once again caught the attention of Reds fans after a clip circulating on social media appeared to reveal exactly how he still feels about his old club.

Coutinho's future remains uncertain after leaving Vasco da Gama earlier this year, with reports suggesting the former Liverpool star is weighing up retirement.

The 33-year-old has also attracted interest from a Russian club as he considers his next move, bringing another twist to a career that has never quite regained its momentum since his high-profile departure from Liverpool for Barcelona in 2018. He was reportedly weighing up a move to Major League Soccer or bringing his playing days to an end.

While enjoying a vacation in Greece, Coutinho was given a reminder of his enduring popularity among Liverpool supporters.

The former Reds midfielder was dining at a restaurant when he was recognized by fans, who broke into a rendition of "You'll Never Walk Alone" and applauded the Brazilian, prompting a warm reaction from the 33-year-old as he joined in with the Reds anthem.

Many supporters commented that the moment showed the Brazilian is still loved by the Anfield faithful despite his controversial exit in 2018. "I miss him, I know the way he left was s---, and he missed out on a massive period, but he was my hope from 2015-2018 and I’ll always love that," said one Reds fan.

Another fan said: "Coutinho was so good for us that he has restaurants in Greece singing for him almost a decade after he left."

While a third user added: "Nobody will ever make me hate him. The bridge between Gerrard and Klopp’s super team. Massive part in our UCL return."

When announcing his departure from Vasco in February, Coutinho admitted he was feeling "mentally exhausted" after a difficult spell at his boyhood club.

The former Liverpool playmaker had come under increasing pressure from supporters and was even booed by sections of the fanbase, with his much-anticipated return to Brazil failing to deliver the success many had hoped for.

"I chose to return to Vasco because I love this club,” Coutinho said. “I love everything Vasco represents in my life. Wearing this shirt was one of the most important choices I've ever made. And, in every training session, in every game, I gave my best. Always! There was never a lack of dedication, never a lack of will and commitment.

"Being judged by countless people for something that isn't part of my character is extremely difficult. I would never disrespect the fans, my teammates, or Vasco. I've never done that anywhere I've been. Anyone who knows me knows that.

"At that moment, on my way to the locker room, I felt and realized that my time at the club was over, and I didn't return to prioritize my mental health. That hurts a lot.

"The truth is, I'm very mentally exhausted. I've always been very reserved, so saying this here isn't easy, but I need to be honest.”
