Federico Chiesa's potential move to Como could fall through, with Liverpool's asking price proving to be a stumbling block.

The Italian winger is anticipated to seek a transfer away from Anfield this summer after enduring a difficult couple of campaigns with the club. Signed from Serie A team Juventus, his time on Merseyside has been blighted by injury, restricting him to just 50 appearances for the Reds, with a mere nine of those coming from the start.

Chiesa continues to attract interest in his homeland, with Como among his suitors as it looks to bolster its ranks ahead of its Champions League campaign next season.

However, it seems a deal may not be as simple as first thought. Como president Mirwan Suwarso was quizzed on the prospect of landing the winger but hinted that the fee could be beyond the club's reach.

Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb, he said: "We are looking at many players. The price for those players is a bit higher than the range we have in mind, though."

Chiesa, 28, has two years left to run on his Liverpool deal, but he has indicated that discussions over his future at the club will need to take place this summer.

He said: "If I don't find consistency in the Premier League, I'll have to look elsewhere. I barely played in my first year at Liverpool, and in the last one, very little.

"I'll go on a training camp in the U.S., then I'll talk to the club and the new manager, [Andoni] Iraola, and we'll see.

"I've played very little since the start of 2026. I have a great relationship with Liverpool. In January, the club and Slot told me I couldn't leave; they needed me, partly for numerical reasons.

"We were in a tight spot. I understood the situation, and I was left smiling. Liverpool is always talked about; last year, they helped me win the Premier League."

Beyond the Chiesa situation, the Reds may face several further decisions regarding their squad.

Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson have both departed upon the expiry of their contracts, with the latter having put pen to paper with Premier League rival Tottenham.

Ibrahima Konate is similarly on his way out, with a move to Spanish team Real Madrid widely anticipated.

Harvey Elliott could also be shown the door following his underwhelming loan stint at Aston Villa.
