Chelsea are keeping tabs on Nottingham Forest attacking midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, according to reports.

The Daily Mail claims that the Blues are “admirers” of the 26-year-old, who scored 15 goals in the Premier League last season.

Gibbs-White does, though, have other suitors, with the likes of Manchester United, Aston Villa and Tottenham also keen on the player.

Spurs actually triggered his release clause last summer, but they backed away following a threat of legal action.

Gibbs-White eventually signed a new contract, keeping him at the City Ground until the summer of 2028, and the Tricky Trees are said to be keen on keeping him for at least another year.

Do Chelsea need him?

At the moment, a move to Stamford Bridge doesn’t appear to be on the cards as the Blues already have players, like Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernandez, who play in the same position.

However, Fernandez is pushing to leave Stamford Bridge, and if the Argentinian international does secure a transfer elsewhere, the club’s interest in Gibbs-White may increase.

Rogers is still the more likely target

Gibbs-White is seemingly on the Blues’ radar, but if Xabi Alonso’s side do make an approach for an attacking midfielder over the coming weeks, many feel that Morgan Rogers would be the favoured option.

Co-Director of Recruitment and Talent Joe Shields has been pushing for the 23-year-old to be purchased for quite some time, having worked with him before at Manchester City.

Unlike Gibbs-White, Rogers is also comfortable playing off the left wing, which is a position that Alonso wants to strengthen.

It could well be the case that if Rogers does end up joining Chelsea, then Aston Villa will look to buy Gibbs-White as his replacement.
