Knicks star Jalen Brunson’s 1-word mic drop takes aim at scouts blowing his draft evaluation

The New York Knicks are two wins away from reaching NBA immortality as they head back to the Garden for Games 3 and 4 of the NBA Finals. The Knicks went up 2-0 on the San Antonio Spurs by stealing both road games to open up the series, becoming the first team to do so since the 1995 Houston Rockets.

Making matters even more impressive is that the Knicks have gone up 2-0 despite a poor series from Jalen Brunson so far. Recently, Brunson spoke on what he believes scouts missed when they allowed him to fall to the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft.

“Everything,” said Brunson, per Kris Pursiainen of ClutchPoints on X, formerly Twitter.

Brunson was a member of a loaded 2018 NBA Draft class, particularly at the guard position, as other All-Stars like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Luka Doncic, and Trae Young were all selected ahead of the Knicks point guard.

However, Brunson carved out a strong role for himself with the Dallas Mavericks and then turned into a legit star with the Knicks, now in a position to become possibly the greatest Knick of all time if he can help New York secure this championship.

At the current rate, it would likely be Karl-Anthony Towns, and not Brunson, who would win Finals MVP if the Knicks were to close the job, as Brunson has suffered through a brutal shooting series thus far. However, he has found a way to hit clutch shots down the stretch of both Games 1 and 2, and he's also provided some timely plays on the defensive end of the floor despite his small frame.

Perhaps playing in front of the New York faithful will allow Brunson to find his shooting touch from the perimeter again and help the Knicks close out the Spurs.
