The Kansas City Chiefs didn’t have the best look in 2025, and they’re looking to come back from their playoff-less run with a better lineup and the kind of coaching that will get them back to the Super Bowl. One NFL analyst believes the Chiefs should already trade away one of their new-ish draft picks before the new season.
Moe Moton of Bleacher Report has released a feature where he names one blockbuster trade each franchise should make before the 2026 season starts. “We could get more transactional fireworks this summer, or at least see moves that we expected teams to make, like the Brown deal, before final roster cuts on August 30,” he states.
For the Chiefs, he likes the idea of the team trading cornerback Kristian Fulton. He makes the point that the team should “continue to fully embrace a youth movement at cornerback,” which they’ve done by trading Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams and allowing Jaylen Watson to walk in free agency. They also have cornerback Mansoor Delane and Jadon Canady.
As for Fulton, he’s “coming off an injury-marred 2025 campaign,” Fulton says, and “could be a placeholder starter, but he’s struggled in recent years, permitting a passer rating above 103 in 2023 and 2024.”
He adds: “Nohl Williams, a 2025 third-rounder, will likely push Fulton for a starting spot on the boundary. If they’re even in competition by the end of the summer, the Chiefs should start the former, who’s only 23. Fulton could provide veteran presence to a team in desperate need of an experienced starter.”
If the Chiefs want to stay focused on the future, it’s certainly wise to have them trade away some vets, and Fulton is one of them could still have good draft capital.
