Manchester United will be hoping to use the transfer market to capitalise on their recent resurgence. New permanent boss Michael Carrick guided the club back into the Champions League spots during his caretaker period and will now concentrate on bolstering his squad.
Casemiro's exit has placed central midfield as one of United's key priorities. An agreement has already been reached for Atlanta star Ederson and Carrick's team are expected to make further signings in that area of the pitch.
United enjoyed the advantage of no European commitments last season and will require a deeper squad to challenge across several competitions. The club are reportedly pursuing a new left-back to provide competition for Luke Shaw, with Eintracht Frankfurt's Nathaniel Brown among those on their radar.
Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford's reaction to England teammate Anthony Gordon's move to Barcelona has been revealed. MEN Sport examines some of the major developments surrounding United.
Marcus Rashford's Barcelona stance clear
Marcus Rashford has made his stance on Barcelona clear following the club's move for Anthony Gordon. The £70million deal leaves Rashford facing an uncertain future after his loan stint at the Camp Nou, having repeatedly voiced his ambition to remain at the Catalan club, who hold an option to secure his services permanently for £26m.
Gordon plays in the same position as Rashford, casting doubt on the latter's prospects of remaining at Barcelona. Nevertheless, the former Newcastle United winger has revealed how Rashford responded to his transfer, with both players currently part of England's World Cup squad.
"He was just telling me how good the lads are there, the team spirit that they have, which I heard already from the people in Barca," Gordon told talkSPORT following England's 1-0 victory over New Zealand.
"So I'm really looking forward to joining up with them. He was also telling me about the city, places to live. He's a lovely guy, very caring. So he was just giving me a bit of information."

Man Utd target 'agrees personal terms'
Eintracht Frankfurt full-back Nathaniel Brown is said to be edging closer to a switch to Bayern Munich. The Manchester Evening News understands Brown is among several left-backs being tracked by United.
According to Sky Sport Germany, the 22-year-old has agreed personal terms with Bayern. Brown is reported to have agreed a contract running until 2031, but the Bundesliga champions have yet to meet Frankfurt's £51.8million valuation.
This means the transfer could still fall through if Bayern and Frankfurt fail to reach an agreement over the fee. The Germany international recorded four goals and four assists in 33 league appearances last season.
