Chelsea concrete interest – Blues awaiting final €40-50m decision, agent already at work

Chelsea are back in the mix to sign AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan this summer.

The France international came close to joining Chelsea last summer before Massimiliano Allegri convinced him to stay.

Last month, the Serie A side failed to qualify for the Champions League and parted ways with Allegri, CEO Giorgio Furlani, sporting director Igli Tare and technical director Geoffrey Moncada.

On May 28th, we relayed news the Premier League side could make a fresh attempt to sign the stopper.

At the weekend, Sport Witness covered claims from Italy that the 30-year-old can push for a move to Chelsea.

Chelsea interest backed up

Gazzetta dello Sport have a report on what could happen to Mike Maignan’s future this summer.

He has doubts over his future after AC Milan missed out on Champions League and parted ways with Massimiliano Allegri.

Maignan’s agent Jonathan Kebe has been working behind the scenes in case he wishes to change clubs.

Chelsea and Juventus would be looking for a new goalkeeper, and the Frenchman can be an option for them. However, these two clubs didn’t make it to the Champions League, with the Blues out of Europe next season.

After last summer’s failure, the English club could make another attempt this year. The newspaper state he’s most likely to go abroad if he leaves the San Siro.

The Rossoneri’s desire is to hold on to the stopper but will consider selling him if there’s an irresistible offer. Milan won’t let him leave for less than €40-50m.

His suitors are awaiting his final decision, which should arrive after France’s World Cup. By then, the Italian club would have a new management and a manager.

Tutto Juve name Chelsea, Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur as his suitors, however there’s been no offers yet.

The two English clubs have concrete interest, and this could be converted into ‘something more in the coming weeks’. In other words, these two clubs could make further advances.

Frenchman could impact other Chelsea players

Robert Sánchez was the No.1 at Stamford Bridge this season, with Filip Jørgensen as his backup.

Denmark manager Brian Riemer has already suggested Jørgensen should consider his future at Chelsea and he could leave this summer.

Mike Maignan’s potential arrival is likely to have a direct impact on Sánchez’s future. Both Mike Penders and Đorđe Petrović, who were out on loan this season, could also push for exits.

The AC Milan star’s contract expires in 2031 and his value, as per Transfermarkt, is €20m.
