Arsenal legend Alan Smith thinks Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers “would love a move” to the Gunners because he wants to be part of a “successful” team.
It has been confirmed by several top sources that the England international is a top target for manager Mikel Arteta, with the player very keen on joining the Premier League champions. Speaking exclusively to Gooner News (courtesy of Best Betting Sites UK) about Rogers, Smith said:

“I bet he would love a move to the Gunners. They’re the team to join because people can see they are going to be successful, hopefully, in the years to come. I mean, I love Morgan Rogers. It’d be an interesting one because the Gunners have got Odegaard and Eze, similar types of players. Eze can play off the left, as can Morgan Rogers. But if Martinelli goes, that might free up some space on the left, especially.”
Smith did, however, raise questions over whether Rogers is the right fit for the left wing:
“I think Arsenal do need some width as well, the kind that Martinelli gives. So it’ll be interesting to see if Arsenal do go for somebody who’s more of a natural winger.
Rogers is on the market this summer
Aston Villa need to comply with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules, and a big sale is required in order to ensure they don’t fall foul of regulations.
Rogers is seen as one of their biggest assets, and the word has been put out there that he could be available for around £80m. In addition to the Gunners, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are also said to be monitoring his situation.
Could Arsenal sign a more traditional winger instead?
The Gunners are still weighing up their options in terms of who they want to go after. There is believed to be strong interest in Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola. He could end up costing just as much as Rogers but he would be more of a like-for-like replacement for Martinelli.
Scouts are also said to be monitoring Ajax’s Mika Godts, but he is still very young and untested in a big European league.
