Liverpool are plotting a summer move to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, according to GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Ben Jacobs.
After confirming the appointment of Andoni Iraola as the club's new manager following the sacking of Arne Slot slightly out of the blue, Liverpool chiefs are now ready to back the Spaniard with new signings in the transfer market.
The Reds took a big step backwards this season after winning the Premier League title in Slot's first campaign in charge at Anfield, with a freshen up of the squad looking to be needed.
The exits of Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah and Ibrahima Konate, three key players in recent years, leave voids needing to be filled, while the Merseysiders look to need more quality in depth in other positions too.
Liverpool look particularly short of depth in wide positions following Salah's exit and with 17-year-old Rio Ngumoha still emerging in the first-team, with the club already in talks over a deal to bring RB Leizpig sensation Yan Diomande to Anfield.
The 19-year-old has been identified as the Reds' first choice to succeed Salah, and while the player is reported by some to have agreed personal terms to join, Leipzig are sticking to their valuation of more than £100m.
Liverpool 'Really Appreciate' Adam Wharton

While Liverpool may have a large focus on strengthening their attack and defence, which conceded a record-high Premier League tally for the club this season, they will look at other positions too.
The central midfield area is another that may need freshening up, with Ryan Gravenbarch and Alexis Mac Allister failing to live up to their same level of performances as in recent years during the 2025-26 campaign.
Dominik Szoboszlai is one of the first names on the team-sheet right now, but the Reds may look to bring in another central midfielder, according to Jacobs, with an appreciation for Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton.
Speaking on talkSPORT, the journalist said:
"Keep an eye on central midfield. Adam Wharton is a player really appreciated by Liverpool."
Wharton still has three years remaining on his contract at Selhurst Park, which will host Europa League football next term, but has been linked with an exit having missed out on a spot in Thomas Tuchel's England squad.
Glasner labelled Wharton 'one of the best midfielders in the world' in recent weeks.

Liverpool Eyeing More Big-Money Signings
Bradley Barcola
Liverpool may have added Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak as £100m-plus signings last summer, but it seems they may be willing to spend big again to bolster Iraola's attack in the coming months.
Diomande will cost a significant fee of over £100m if Leipzig have their way, while the Reds have also been linked with moves for Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League winner Bradley Barcola, and Bournemouth winger Rayan, who are both valued at over £100m by their clubs.
It remains to be seen how many attackers Liverpool add to their squad, with reports also suggesting that Cody Gakpo wants to leave Anfield following the departure of Slot, while Ngumoha is a target for Bayern Munich.
