NYC adds 3rd Knicks watch party location for Game 3 of NBA Finals

After the watch party around Madison Square Garden for Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs was canceled, New York City has added yet another location for fans to watch the game together.

Of course, the watch party outside MSG was canceled due to the increased security measures around the arena due to President Donald Trump attending the game.

“The permit for the Plaza33 Game 3 watch party was denied by the city’s permitting office in consultation with the NYPD. However, the White House will confirm that this is not about the president. We understand NYPD Commissioner Tisch is planning additional street closures around Madison Square Garden,” an MSG spokesperson said.

On Monday morning, it was announced that Bryant Park will be the third watch party location, along with Central Park and Brooklyn Bowl.

The watch party will be open to the public, but it will hold a maximum of 5,000 people. Those who wish to attend must register in advance.

“These watch parties have become a celebration of New York City itself,” Mayor Zohran Mamdani said. “From every borough and every neighborhood, this city has come together to cheer on the Knicks and share in a moment that belongs to all of us. That’s why we’re adding Bryant Park as an additional watch party location, so even more fans can be part of this incredible Knicks Finals run.”

Knicks fans priced out

Watch parties have become even more important for your average New York Knicks fan because they simply cannot afford the ridiculous price of tickets.

According to TickPick, the get-in price for Game 3 of the NBA Finals is $6,477.

Believe it or not, that is far cheaper than what is was just a few days ago, when the get-in price was $11,510. The price has gone down since then because of increased supply.

However, the get-in price for Game 4 is still astronomical at $11,961.

The New York Knicks held a “fan first” sale for tickets over the weekend and over 500,000 fans were in queue.

There was also a charity auction held for courtside seats, but the highest bid was $500,000.

This is just unfortunate, to say the least.

As Knicks guard Josh Hart pointed out, there are a lot of Knicks fans who have been waiting a long time for their team to be in the NBA Finals, yet they are being priced out of attending.

“I kind of wish the ticket prices weren’t as crazy as they are,” he said. “I feel like a lot of people who have been waiting for this moment for a very long time unfortunately aren’t able to get into the building.”

Game 3 of the NBA finals between the Knicks and Spurs will take place on Monday night, with tip-off set for 8:30 p.m. ET.

The Knicks hold a 2-0 lead over San Antonio.
