The Cleveland Browns might have the most interesting quarterback situation in the entire NFL. Not from the standpoint of having the best QBs, but in that there is very much a quarterback competition this offseason.
Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson are fighting for the starting job in Todd Monken's offense in 2026, and it's very much up in the air at the moment. But, with the potential for the NFL Supplemental Draft to bring Brendan Sorsby to Cleveland, things could get more complicated.
However, Sanders got some good news on Monday morning, as Pete Thamel of ESPN reports that Sorsby has been granted college eligibility for the 2026 season, taking his name out of the supplemental draft board.
Browns' Shedeur Sanders gets good news thanks to Brendan Sorsby
"NEWS: A judge in district court in Lubbock County, Texas, has granted the injunction requested by Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby," Thamel reports. "He's set to be eligible for the 2026 season."
While Sorsby was once someone who could enter the NFL's Supplemental Draft this offseason, this ruling has completely changed that outcome for the NFL and Sorsby.
He's going to be able to return to college for the 2026 season, so teams around the NFL will no longer have the chance to bid on him in the Supplemental Draft.

Instead, he's sure to join a stacked 2027 quarterback draft class. But, for the upcoming 2026 season, it's good news for all of the quarterbacks who might've lost a starting job to him.
Sanders on the Browns is one of those quarterbacks who might have lost his job next year, as he could've easily been replaced by Sorsby if the Browns took him in the Supplemental Draft.
Now, Sanders only has to worry about beating out Watson for the Browns' starting job in 2026. This eligibility ruling was some good news for Sanders, as there's now one less option who could take the Browns' starting job in 2026 away from him.
