When the Arizona Cardinals report for minicamp this week, holdout quarterback Jacoby Brissett will be there.
Brissett missed the entirety of Arizona’s Phase 1 and Phase 2 as well as all three of the Cardinals’ organized team activities as he holds out for a new contract. His deal currently pays him $4.88 million, with the potential to grow to $5.39 million, of which only $1.5 million is guaranteed.
By comparison, Gardner Minshew II, whom Arizona signed as a free agent in March, has $5.14 million guaranteed by the team for 2026.
Now ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler is reporting Brissett will attend camp to avoid being fined.
If Brissett decided not to attend, he could have been fined a total of over $107,000, according to the NFL‘s collective bargaining agreement.
After coming in in relief of an injured Kyler Murray, Brissett wound up starting 12 games and passed for a career-high 3,366 yards with 23 touchdowns and eight interceptions. The Cardinals went just 1-11 in his 12 starts, though.
Arizona also drafted former Georgia and Miami quarterback Carson Beck in the third round of the 2026 NFL draft, which puts extra pressure on Brissett to ensure his status as the team’s staring quarterback.
While most starting quarterbacks in the league are making north of $30 million per season, the Cardinals likely starter will be making just over $6 million.
