Tottenham move in for 21-year-old Frenchman after Arsenal walk away

Tottenham Hotspur are looking at Eintracht Frankfurt’s Jean-Mattéo Bahoya to improve their attack this summer.

He left Angers SCO for the German club in January 2024 and has managed seven goals and eight assists from 78 matches. He’s mainly operated on the left wing and at times as an attacking midfielder and on the right wing.

Tottenham are the latest Premier League side to show interest in the 21-year-old.

Last December, Sport Witness covered claims from Germany of Arsenal seriously thinking of signing him. At that time, his valuation was €80m. Since then, there’s been no concrete claims about Arsenal, who appear to baulked at the price and walked away.

The Frenchman finished this season with four goals and four assists.

Tottenham keen on Bahoya

Monday’s edition of Bild takes a look at Eintracht Frankfurt’s sales to English clubs over the past few years.

They missed out on Europe after finishing eighth and have to carry out a major overhaul this summer.

The German club desperately need to raise funds and there’s expectations many millions could arrive from England.

Jean-Mattéo Bahoya, Arthur Theate and Hugo Larsson are sale candidates, and the trio are attracting interest from the Premier League. Their moves to the Premier League could help raise around €85-100m.

Tottenham Hotspur get a mention for Bahoya as Bild state they are ‘particularly interested’. No other club apart from Spurs get a mention and and there’s no suggestion of Arsenal returning.

Bild claim he only met expectations at the start of the season and hasn’t picked up his form since then. That doesn’t seem to have put off Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

Eintracht Frankfurt, for their part, are expecting around €35-40m.

Tottenham are particularly keen and can take advantage of Eintracht Frankfurt’s financial situation to sign Bahoya.

Contract, value and agent info

Jean-Mattéo Bahoya has a contract until 2029 and his value, as per Transfermarkt, is €25m. There’s been no change in his value since October.

Paris based agency Concept Sport Agency, owned by Jeremy Hazan and Jonathan Reine-Adelaide, represent him.
