Manchester City are about to embark on a very important summer window at the club.

With Pep Guardiola having called time on his glittering spell at the Etihad, the Manchester side are heading into a new chapter, and all signs point toward Enzo Maresca being the man trusted to lead it.

Reports suggest the former Chelsea boss has agreed terms on a three‑year deal, with City determined to refresh the squad after failing to win the league in each of the last two seasons. That backdrop all but guarantees a busy transfer window.

One of the names firmly on their radar is Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson, a player who has already attracted strong interest from Liverpool. ESPN previously reported that the Reds had been tracking the 23‑year‑old.

Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, it is City who are pushing hardest. The transfer insider has explained that Manchester United have “been dreaming” of signing Anderson but that City are currently leading the race, having already tabled an opening offer.

That first bid has been knocked back by Forest, who are holding out for a fee well in excess of £100 million as they look to protect one of their prized asset:

“Manchester United have been dreaming for the player for some time. But as I told you, the club leading the race to sign Eliott Anderson is Manchester City,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.

Romano adds that City remain confident and are already preparing a new, official proposal, encouraged by signals that Anderson is open to the move and ready to discuss a significant contract at the Etihad.

“Man City are preparing a new, official, bid for Anderson and they maintain their confidence. City feel that the player wants the move, they are prepared to offer a very important contract to the boy.”

“So, Man City are ready to go all in for Eliott Anderson. They will try and close the deal as soon as possible. They remain focused on this deal – working hard on player and club side to try and reach an agreement with Nottingham Forest.”

Anderson has been one of the standout performers at the City Ground since his £35m move from Newcastle two summers ago.
