“Will Report”: Arizona Cardinals QB Jacoby Brissett Ending Offseason Holdout

Jacoby Brissett started in the majority of games for the Arizona Cardinals last season. Arizona finished with a 3-14 record. Brissett started because there were injuries to quarterback Kyler Murray. Entering the 2026 NFL season, he is projected to be the Cardinals starting quarterback once again.

The other Cardinals quarterbacks on the roster are rookie Carson Beck and journeyman Gardner Minshew. There is a chance that all three quarterbacks could potentially see the field this season for first year head coach Mike LaFleur. There is a chance that they could be one of the worst teams in the NFL again and land one of the top quarterbacks in the 2027 NFL Draft.

When the Cardinals had offseason activities earlier on, there was some contract disputes with Brissett and the organization. Well, it appears as if he is going to report to the offseason activities scheduled for later this week. Josh Weinfuss and Jeremy Fowler of espn.com reported,

“Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett will report for Arizona’s mandatory minicamp this week, sources told ESPN, after holding out for all of the team’s offseason program while he awaits a reworked contract for this season.

Brissett was at risk of being fined a total of $107,911 if he didn’t show up, according to the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement. Brissett missed the entirety of Arizona’s Phase 1 and Phase 2 as well as all three of the Cardinals’ OTAs.

The Cardinals’ minicamp will consist of practice Tuesday and Wednesday. While Brissett will be in attendance, it’s uncertain how much on-field work he will do, sources said. Brissett wants a restructured contract for this season, the second of a two-year deal he signed in March 2025. His deal currently pays him $4.88 million, with the potential to grow to $5.39 million, of which only $1.5 million is guaranteed.”

Brissett is 33 years old and is entering the final year of his contract. It would be silly for Arizona to sign him to a contract extension moving forward. It doesn’t make sense for either party and good for the Cardinals for standing on their ground here.
