Hawks’ Quin Snyder contract extension finalized after months of rumors

The Atlanta Hawks enjoyed some success this season, making it to the playoffs despite several changes throughout the season. With those changes, Quin Snyder was able to put a game plan together to help the team's success, and he's being rewarded for his work with an extension, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.

“The Atlanta Hawks and head coach Quin Snyder have agreed to a multiyear contract extension, sources tell ESPN. This marks consecutive extensions for Hawks leadership of Snyder and President Onsi Saleh to solidify organizational continuity for team ownership,” Charania wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Snyder has been with the Hawks since February 2023 and has led the team to two playoff appearances. This season, the team finished 43-36 and was a top-six seed, even with trading Trae Young at the deadline. So far, they're the only team to say that they beat the New York Knicks in the playoffs.

The Hawks have had back-to-back Most Improved Players, with Nickeil Alexander-Walker winning this season and Dyson Daniels winning last season. It was also a big season for Jalen Johnson, who won All-NBA Third Team honors for his play, as he averaged 22.5 points, 10.3 rebounds and 7.9 assists.

It will be another big offseason for the Hawks, as they have the No. 8 pick in the NBA Draft and could have cap flexibility depending on some moves they make on the roster.

There's no doubt that they're building a team that can compete now and in the future, and they believe that Snyder is the coach who can help them do it.

Just a week ago, the Hawks signed Onsi Saleh to an extension, while also promoting him to President of Basketball Operations. Saleh finished as the runner-up in Executive of the Year behind Brad Stevens.
