The Sacramento Kings are less than three weeks away from making the seventh overall selection in the 2026 NBA Draft, but Sactown Sports’ The Drive Guys believe there is plenty of intrigue surrounding who the organization ultimately prefers.
Kevin Gleason and Allen Stiles debated whether the Sacramento Kings have already settled on their ideal prospect or if they’re still weighing multiple options as draft day approaches.

Much of the conversation centered on Arkansas star guard Darius Acuff Jr., whose name continues to be linked to the Kings in draft circles.
Acuff is coming off a dominant freshman season with the Razorbacks, averaging 23.5 points and 6.4 assists per game while shooting 44 percent from three-point range. His outstanding offensive campaign earned him SEC Player of the Year, SEC Rookie of the Year, and Consensus All-American honors, making him one of the most coveted prospects in the draft.

While rumors have connected both Acuff and Kingston Flemings to Sacramento, Gleason pointed out that no one from the Kings organization has publicly revealed their intentions.

“[Kings GM] Scott Perry has not said we want Darius Acuff,” Gleason said. “He hasn’t sat down with anyone and said we want Darius Acuff or [Houston guard] Kingston Flemings.“
Still, the hosts acknowledged that information continues to surface, suggesting Sacramento has a significant interest in both prospects.
Stiles wondered if some of the reports could simply be part of the annual pre-draft gamesmanship teams use to protect their plans.
“We’re deeper into it, but these are the types of games and types of activities you have to embark on when you’re down in the dumps of seven,” Stiles said.
The discussion also explored Acuff’s potential fit with the current roster. Stiles noted that Acuff’s offensive style could dramatically alter how Sacramento operates, particularly when paired with center Domantas Sabonis.
Arkansas’ Darius Acuff measured 6’2 barefoot and 186 pounds at the NBA Draft Combine, with a 6’7 wingspan and 8’2.5 standing reach.

“Acuff is a crazy passer,” Stiles said. “Go look at the numbers. Acuff can pass.”
Gleason agreed that Acuff’s playmaking ability stands out, but questioned what Sabonis’ role might become if the Kings hand the offense to a young, ball-dominant guard.
Despite the uncertainty, both hosts agreed that landing a player with Acuff’s upside could energize the fanbase. Stiles even referenced comparisons to elite NBA guards, suggesting that if Acuff develops into the caliber of player some evaluators believe he can become, the Sacramento Kings may have found the franchise point guard they’ve been searching for–at the seventh pick, nevertheless.
