Fever's Caitlin Clark gets brutal comparison to playoff James Harden — and this says she's worse

In the NBA, James Harden gets frequent ridicule for being a nightmare in the playoffs.

He's a surefire Hall of Famer, but something about the postseason often brings out the worst in "The Beard."

With that in mind, then, one stat circulating -- a true stat -- isn't a good look for Caitlin Clark.

Clark's career assist-to-turnover ratio, in all regular season games, is worse than Harden's mark just in his oft-criticized playoff career.

These are the numbers:

Clark is in the midst of a rough stretch for the Fever, and this is just one bit of evidence that she still has some work to do on her game.

For her career, Clark averages 8.5 assists per game and 5.3 turnovers per game.

There is some encouragement: As a rookie, it was 5.6 turnovers per game. That dropped to 5.1 last year and is now at 4.2 this year.

That's still a remarkably high total. Clark is averaging 8.2 assists and 4.2 turnovers per game in the 2026 season.

She's also fouling more than she ever has (3.9 per game compared to 2.8 and 2.7 the last two seasons).

Clark's shooting has declined from 2024, too (it was also bad in her injury-shortened 2025).

On an individual basis, Clark can make plays. But to see her numbers compared like this to the negative vibes that playoff Harden brings -- that's not ideal, and it's just one more example that Clark isn't quite reaching her full potential at the moment.
