Oklahoma City Thunder GM Sam Presti vowed to do everything in his power to retain the roster that failed to defend its 2025 title after a season-ending Game 7 loss to the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals. While many wonder the lengths that the front office will go to make roster tweaks to keep up with the Spurs, Presti addressed picking up the Thunder players’ options at the end of their contracts for guys such as Lu Dort, Isaiah Hartenstein, and Kenrich Williams for the 2026-27 season.
Presti says the Thunder will attempt to retain their restricted free agents this summer.
“The first thing is, like I said, I gotta talk to everybody. Got to get a sense of where everybody is… Is it possible that we just pick up the options for everybody and roll into next season? That’s certainly possible,” Presti said. “I certainly wouldn’t rule that out because we haven’t gotten through those conversations… The process itself could take a little while because I want to understand what all is available to me.” Said
Presti doesn’t want to speak for the Thunder players ahead of free agency, but he still wants to keep his title team intact. How Thunder's Lu Dort, Isaiah Hartenstein, and Kenrich Williams approach negotiations over the summer is unknown. However, Presti isn’t ruling out the possibility that all three options for Dort, Hartenstein, and Williams could combine for roughly $53 million in salary.

Thunder GM Sam Presti addressed Chet Holmgren’s Game 7 performance against the Spurs during his annual end-of-the-season press conference at the team’s practice facility. Presti didn’t hold back on Holmgren’s overall performance in the Western Conference Finals, reminding reporters that disappointing series happen to some of the greatest players, and it isn’t exclusive to his All-NBA forward.
“Chet’s one of our guys. He’s been so impactful; he drives winning on so many different levels for us,” Presti said. “He didn’t have a great series. As I was saying, if you go back and look at some of the greatest players, they all have these moments where they run into defeat and struggle.”
Fans are eager to see how Holmgren will respond with the Thunder next season.
