The San Antonio Spurs entered enemy territory this week when they traveled to take on the New York Knicks in their city. Knicks fans showed up in large groups to San Antonio for Games 1 and 2, and you ca bet things will be maniacal for Games 3 and 4 inside and around Madison Square Garden.
Ahead of Game 3, the Spurs held a morning shootaround inside MSG before returning to the team hotel for one quick rest before the game. Spurs play-by-play broadcaster, Jacob Tobey, has been traveling with the team and documenting the run even though he's not calling the game on television.
As a member of the organization, Tobey decided to wear his Spurs shirt during a quick run to get pizza to see what kind of experience he'd have with New York Knicks fans and to see what the more known and recognizable Spurs players might be going through.
“I just got done going to get pizza for lunch, but I purposely wore my Spurs shirt out today just to feel some of the stuff that was going to be coming the Spurs way,” Tobey said in the video. “The Garden's going to be crazy. I'm from Boston, so I always come to New York City and wear Red Sox gear and people let you know about it. And we do the same thing back in Boston, we let Yankee fans have it. And I will say the Knicks fans have been letting me have it. One guy rolled down his window and said, ‘F You, you guys are going down tonight!' I got booed by someone sitting at an outdoor restaurant, a couple of teenagers gave me the stare down. So the guys are going to feel that tonight in MSG. There's so much going on, there's so much security, so much excitement, and they just got to fight through it.”
I just got an “F you!” walking down the street in NYC 🤣 https://t.co/OeMWvUx9Gr pic.twitter.com/Qd4XCPJj4d
