Manchester Unitedwere expected to benefit from a potential windfall from Olympique de Marseille after claims that Mason Greenwood had agreed a move to Fenerbahce.

However, with Hakan Safi losing the presidential vote to Aziz Yildirim, any deal is now in doubt, meaning United may not yet trigger their 40% sell-on clause.

Elsewhere, Real Madrid are reportedly preparing a £130m move for Michael Olise, although Bayern president Herbert Hainer insists the player is not for sale.

In midfield, Elliot Anderson continues to attract major interest from several clubs this summer, including Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City. The Reds are monitoring the Englishman as they look to bolster their midfield options.

Manchester City had an opening bid rejected for Anderson but are preparing a second offer, while reports from The Guardian suggest Manchester Unitedremain confident of beating Man City to his signature.

The 23-year-old is valued at around £100m by Forest. Man United’s director of football Jason Wilcox is also tracking Mateus Fernandes as an alternative option to strengthen the midfield under Michael Carrick.

West Ham United are believed to value the 21-year-old at around £80million, although that fee is seen as difficult to meet.

Manchester City remain favourites to sign Elliot Anderson, who is also expected to start England’s opening World Cup match against Croatia on June 17. However, Manchester United believe they can still persuade him to move to Old Trafford.

United have already agreed a deal for Ederson, who was previously linked with Liverpool, while Anderson’s wages at Nottingham Forest are around £100,000 per week, meaning he would expect a significant pay rise whichever Manchester club secures him.

Despite Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s push to reduce wage costs, United are prepared to meet Anderson’s demands if he chooses Old Trafford over City. His current contract runs until 2029, but a summer departure is widely anticipated.

Carlos Baleba is also of interest to United, although Brighton are expected to resist any sale. Meanwhile, Casemiro is expected to leave for Inter Miami, although complications over MLS discovery rights and squad registration rules could delay any move.
