Kansas City Chiefs: Reunite with Familiar Face for 2026

The Kansas City Chiefs’ cornerback depth is relatively thin entering mandatory minicamp after trading Trent McDuffie and losing Jaylen Watson and Joshua Williams to free agency. As it currently stands, sixth overall pick Mansoor Delane is projected to serve as the team’s top cornerback, while Nohl Williams and Kristian Fulton are competing for the No. 2 outside role, and Kader Kohou and a fourth-round pick, Jadon Canady, are vying to handle slot duties. Kaiir Elam, who has bounced around with three teams since March 2025, is aiming for a fresh start in what may be his last shot in the NFL.

According to Adam Schefter, the Chiefs have signed L’Jarius Sneed to a one-year deal worth up to $5 million after visiting with the team on Thursday. After initially placing a franchise tag during the 2024 offseason, Kansas City traded him to the Tennessee Titans, during which he signed a four-year, $76.4 million contract before being released in March. Sneed will compete for either a starting job against Nohl Williams and Kristian Fulton or for a key backup role.

Here’s a quick review of his last two seasons

Tennessee Titans cornerback L’Jarius Sneed (38) heads off the field after a goal-line stop against the p/ during their game at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn., Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024.

L’Jarius Sneed struggled to stay healthy over his two-year stint with the Tennessee Titans, missing 22 games. He suffered a season-ending quad strain in 2024, causing him to miss the final 12 games. Sneed passed his physical in late August but lasted only seven games in 2025 before aggravating the same quad, prompting the Titans to shut him down on injured reserve ahead of Week 8. He posted 49 tackles, two tackles for loss, zero interceptions, and three pass breakups in 12 total games.

Additionally, the two-time Super Bowl champion recently had all criminal charges dismissed stemming from an alleged December 2024 shooting at a Dallas car dealership. He was initially charged with aggravated assault, but the charge was later reduced to the misdemeanor offense of failure to report a felony in which serious bodily injury or death may have occurred. While all criminal charges were dropped, Sneed is still facing a $1 million lawsuit related to the incident.
