Tyrann Mathieu jokes about LSU return after Brendan Sorsby ruling

The Brendan Sorsby versus the NCAA case reached a landmark decision Monday. The incoming Texas Tech quarterback sparked a flurry of reactions nationally after his eligibility finally became addressed. Even past LSU football star and Super Bowl winner Tyrann Mathieu chimed in.

Except Mathieu wanted to know if he can return to school.

The famed past Tigers star took to the social media website X, formerly Twitter, jokingly asking if he can finish his college career.

“Can I return back to college football? I only played two seasons, should have two more eligibility years left,” Mathieu began.

Mathieu continued to joke about his desire to return to CFB.

“Can you find me a judge in Louisiana who can see to it that Honey Badger gets to finish his last two years of college football? Who’s going to say no ?????” Mathieu asked.

The former Arizona Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints star delivered a decorated career in Baton Rouge. Lauded for his versatility, Mathieu became fifth in the final Heisman Trophy voting during 2011. Mathieu delivered an All-American campaign during LSU's run to the National Championship Game. His Tigers eventually fell to Southeastern Conference rival Alabama 21-0 for the crown.

Mathieu bolted early for the 2012 NFL Draft due to off-the-field issues, though. The safety and return ace repeatedly violated the school's substance abuse policy. Multiple failed drug tests led to his LSU dismissal. The troubles also occurred before the words “transfer portal” surfaced.

But Mathieu established himself as a league star with three Pro Bowl appearances and winning the 2019 Super Bowl with the Chiefs.
