Giants’ John Harbaugh calls false alarm on concerning Abdul Carter injury

The New York Giants have started their minicamp as they look to build on good habits during the offseason. Unfortunately, one of their key edge rushers suffered an injury, as Abdul Carter had to leave practice early. After practice, Harbaugh was asked about Carter's status.

“Looks like he twisted his ankle to some degree. Doesn't look serious,” Harbaugh said.

Carter was examined by the Giants following his injury, but it was noted early that the injury didn't seem to be serious.

“Development: Giants edge Abdul Carter had his entire left shoe and sock off, and he's being examined by trainers,” reported Leonard. “He is limping VERY gingerly off to the side. I didn’t see it happen, but Carter got banged up during this practice. He just limped into the indoor field as practice continues outside.”

It's good news that Carter's injury isn't bad, and it will be interesting to see if he's back on the field during their next practice. At the same time, the Giants can play it safe and keep him off the field for the remainder of minicamp.

Carter was key for the Giants' defense during his rookie season, finishing with 43 combined tackles, four sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

The Giants were able to add more talent to their defense this offseason, drafting Arvell Reese with the No. 5 pick. It will be interesting to see what he can bring to the team, and the hope is that they can become one of the better defensive teams in the league.
