According to Shams Charania of ESPN, U.S. president Donald Trump will be sitting on a suite in Game 3 of the NBA Finals.
Game 3 of the 2026 NBA Finals will be highly anticipated not only because it will fully determine the direction of the title series between the San Antonio Spurs and the New York Knicks, but also because of Donald Trump.
New York Knicks / Schedule
The United States president is set to be one of the most significant figures who will be in attendance at the forthcoming Monday game. Trump himself announced that he will be appearing in the Finals game, sparking plenty of backlash and an added element around the biggest night of Knicks basketball yet.
In the wake of everyone's anticipation of his attendance, it appears that Trump will not be found around courtside or among the jam-packed crowd of Madison Square Garden.
Donald Trump to sit in a suite for Game 3 of the NBA Finals
In NBA Today, ESPN Insider Shams Charania told Malika Andrews that Donald Trump will be sitting in a suite for Game 3 of the NBA Finals.
This stands as an intriguing revelation, but the U.S. president will likely watch with Knicks owner and good friend James Dolan.
Not to mention, considering the heightened security inside and outside of Madison Square Garden, this only highlights the franchise and the NBA's precautionary measures to ensure Trump's safety throughout the entire game.
"President Donald Trump will be sitting in a suite tonight at Madison Square Garden, so he's opting not to sit courtside," Charania said.
Donald Trump's Finals appearance drew negativity out of New York's historical night
A New York native and a known Knicks fan, Dolan is simply the one behind Trump's looming NBA Finals Game 3 attendance.
As such, many are not simply fans of how the United States president will enter and watch at the Garden with the Knicks hosting the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999. The majority have raised their eyebrows after Trump himself dismissed the all-time high ticket prices for Game 3 of the series.
Stephen A. Smith ripped Trump for being narcissistic by trying to gain attention in the Finals, while Spurs star De'Aaron Fox also offered grievances about the inconvenience of the president's upcoming attendance due to heightened security measures.
Trump is set to be the first U.S. president since Obama in 2015 to attend an NBA game, and the first in history to watch an NBA Finals game in person.
