Chiefs Reuniting With Fan-Favorite Super Bowl Champ 3 Years After Trading Him

When the Kansas City Chiefs traded away star cornerback Trent McDuffie, many wondered how they would replace the Pro Bowler in their secondary.

First, they traded up in the 2026 NFL draft to grab LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane with the sixth overall pick. Then on Monday, they agreed to bring back a fan-favorite CB who they traded away just three years ago.

"Reunion! The #Chiefs are planning to sign CB L'Jarius Sneed, per sources," NFL insider Jordan Schultz posted on X. "Sneed, whom the team traded to Tennessee in 2024, collected 10 INTs while helping Kansas City win two Super Bowls during his previous tenure there."

The reunion was celebrated by Chiefs fans on social media, many of whom believe Sneed is exactly what the secondary needs to get back to shutting down opposing WRs.

"L’Jarius back? Chiefs DB room just got terrifying again," one fan posted.

"Y'all trippin this is a great move Sneed is a great player under coach Spags and will continue to prove that," another commented.

"Watched him shut down Tyreek in that 2023 AFC championship. that secondary chemistry is back," a third fan remarked.

"REUNION SEASON IN KC 🔥 L’Jarius Sneed back where he belongs! Chiefs defense about to be disgusting again. Let's run it back 🏆 #ChiefsKingdom," one user replied.

"Sneed back in KC? That defense just got its swagger back. Chiefs Kingdom loves a reunion," another user celebrated.

Sneed was traded to the Tians back in 2024 in exchange for a 2024 seventh-round pick swap and a 2025 third-round pick, which turned into edge-rusher Ashton Gillotte, who recorded 38 tackles, 24 pressures, 16 hurries, five QB hits, 1.5 sacks, and an interception as a rookie last year according to Pro Football Focus.

The 29-year-old Sneed's Titans tenure was a forgettable one.

He played just five games in his first year with the team due a season-ending quad injury. He totaled just 23 tackles. In Year 2, Sneed logged 26 tackles and three passes defended in seven games before being placed on season-ending injured reserve with another quad injury.

It's not known if Sneed will return to his pre-quad injury days in Kansas City pre-trade, but adding him to the mix certainly strengthens the Chiefs' secondary.

Sneed gives the Chiefs a veteran presence to pair with Delane and fellow rookies Jadon Canady, D’Arco Perkins-McAllister, Bryce Phillips, and Zelmar Vedder plus the team's youthful CB corps including Nohl Williams, 23, Kristian Fulton, 27, and Kaiir Elam, 25.
