Even Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama went through extra security before Game 3 vs. Knicks

It has not been a good experience in the NBA Finals so far for the San Antonio Spurs, who trail the New York Knicks two games to zero after losing both contests on their home court at Frost Bank Arena in San Antonio.

The Finals have now shifted to Madison Square Garden in the heart of New York City, where the Spurs have no choice but to win to avoid falling into a three-game hole. Among the celebrities in attendance is President Donald Trump, who routinely attended Knicks games prior to the start of his political career.

Understandably, there will be increased security with the Commander in Chief in the building, and even Spurs star Victor Wembanyama was not exempt from additional security measures upon entering the venue.

When asked if he believes that the sitting President's presence in the venue will be a distraction, Wembanyama said he didn't think it would be, and compared it to the Olympics.

Not really. I think it could be, but isolating myself is something I’ve practiced over the years, and I think I’m good at it, so it’s not a problem. This is similar to something media-wise like the Olympics.”

So far in the 2026 NBA postseason, Wembanyama has averaged 23.6 points while grabbing 10.7 rebounds. He's also averaging 2.7 assists and 3.5 blocks per game across 19 games.

Game 3 of the NBA Finals is scheduled to tip-off at 8:30 p.m. ET. If the Spurs manage to win, they'll at the very least extend the series to a Game 5.
