The San Antonio Spurs seemed to receive the memo for Game 3 of the NBA Finals against the New York Knicks as they built an early double digit lead in the first quarter. It’s a must-win game for the Spurs as they face the possibility of dropping to 0-3 in the series. The Spurs’ strong start to Game 3 made a believer out of sports media personality Skip Bayless who took to social media to predict they would win in a blowout.

Skip Bayless might want to pump the brakes a bit though on his prediction that the Spurs would win Game 3 of the NBA Finals in a blowout. As of halftime, the Knicks had battled their way back into the game late in the second quarter to take the lead.

But as far as winning Game 3, the Spurs are still in good position to do so. Victor Wembanyama needed to be better after the first two games of the series, and he answered the call to start Game 3. Nearing halftime, the Spurs star had 15 points in 19 minutes while shooting 6-of-9 from the field.

The Spurs’ supporting cast was rising to the occasion as well. It’s still going to be an uphill climb even if the Spurs manage to win Game 3. The Knicks stole homecourt by winning the first two games of the series on the road, and have the comfort of having Game 4 at home.

For the Spurs to get back in this series, they’re going to need a similar level of offensive production from the first half of Game 3, and a much better defensive effort.
