Dez Bryant makes bizarre implication with 49ers and Brandon Aiyuk’s arrest warrant

The situation with San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk just gets more bizarre by the day, and former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant felt the need to chime in on social media after an arrest warrant was issued for Aiyuk due to alleged speeding.

Obviously, the alleged incident got a lot of attention when Aiyuk posted a video online that appeared to show him speeding past Levi’s Stadium. He followed that up with a social media post after incident apologizing for it.

Now, it seems legal action is being taken, but Bryant thinks there may be something deeper going on. He posted the following on social media in response to the news of Aiyuk’s arrest warrant:

“I don’t agree with how BA has been handling his business as a professional athlete..but this right here is strategically put together to smear his name..Some will get it..and some won’t…”

Bryant didn’t elaborate, but it seems like he is implying the 49ers, or maybe the city of Santa Clara, are somehow conspiring to smear Aiyuk. Maybe one could argue the timing is a bit weird considering the warrant was not issued until well after the alleged incident occurred, but that isn’t particularly unusual.

Also, if Bryant is implying the Niners were somehow involved in the timing of this, why would they want this to come out now when they are seemingly still trying to trade Aiyuk to another team so they don’t have to release him and get nothing in return?

Maybe the 49ers know they almost certainly won’t get any takers on the trade market, so they are just trying to make it more difficult for another team to sign him by creating a narrative that he’s a troublemaker?

Even that way of thinking doesn’t stand up to much scrutiny because the 49ers don’t need to be meddling in legal issues to prove that Aiyuk has some serious red flags. He himself has shown the world that with his behavior the last few years, and every NFL team out there knows the baggage this guy has and understands how he could be a distraction if signed, even before any of these alleged incidents.

Bryant is obviously entitled to his opinion, but it doesn’t make a ton of sense when one thinks about it rationally. The timing of it is odd, but it’s highly dubious the 49ers were involved.
