Scott Minto is that rarest of things – TalkSport pundit who doesn’t just seek attention. His takes from this morning on Liam Delap’s struggles at Chelsea were very measured:

“I think he wasn’t ready to play for Chelsea. It’s such a big jump to go from, with respect to Ipswich, to one of the biggest clubs in the world, and that’s what they are now, Chelsea Football Club. You know, with the pressure, and I think it’s been very tough for him.”

He’s not wrong – Delap has looked lost since day one, and it’s clear the step up came too soon for him, despite the promise he showed for Ipswich.

Jackson deserves another chance

Minto had some strong takes on the fact that Delap was brought in to replace Nicolas Jackson too:

“Listen, people were giving Nicolas Jackson a lot of stick. I actually think Cole Palmer has missed Nicolas Jackson making those runs. He misses a lot of chances, but he scores when he creates havoc.”

Most Blues fans would agree that the best move this summer would be to bring Jackson back and let Delap go.

In other news…

Gabriel Slonina is another player set to be included in the great Chelsea fire sale of 2026, according to a report from the BBC today.

Enzo Fernandez could also be on the move this summer, but Real Madrid have another target listed which could make things tricky for the Blues.
