Chelsea have decided to send Omari Kellyman out on another loan spell away from Stamford Bridge.
According to the BBC, the Blues are planning the next stage of the 20-year-old’s development following an encouraging loan spell at Cardiff City.
The 20-year-old forward joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in a deal worth around £19 million ahead of the 2024/25 season. However, his start to life at Chelsea was hardly a fairytale.
A series of hamstring injuries disrupted his progress and eventually led to surgery, forcing him to focus on recovery rather than making an immediate impact for the Blues.
Despite those setbacks, Kellyman has worked hard to get his career back on track.
His loan spell at Cardiff City proved to be an important turning point, giving him the opportunity to play regularly while carefully rebuilding his fitness.
The talented attacker enjoyed a productive season in League One, scoring 11 goals and adding two assists in 36 appearances.
His performances played a key role in Cardiff’s successful promotion campaign, helping the Welsh club secure a return to the Championship.
Just as importantly, Kellyman managed to complete the season while gradually increasing his workload.
Both Cardiff and Chelsea took a cautious approach with his playing time, ensuring that he could regain full fitness after a difficult period of injuries.
His performances in the lower leagues have now opened the door to a new challenge.
Chelsea are understood to be exploring another loan move for the talented forward, with the club keen for him to continue gaining experience at a higher level.
A move abroad is one option being considered, but any international loan deal could be affected by FIFA regulations.
Several Championship clubs are also reportedly monitoring Kellyman’s situation and could offer the youngster a chance to test himself in the second division.
