"A strong, determined young man who works with great energy and is constantly growing, including in terms of leadership on the court. We selected him in last year's draft, and I believe he will be part of our franchise's future," Atkinson said via Tuttosport.

Niang impressed in his first EuroLeague season

The 22-year-old Italian-Senegalese forward had a strong first season in the EuroLeague with Virtus Bologna.

Niang averaged 7 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists per game, while also shooting 33% from three-point range.

His combination of versatility and athleticism makes Saliou Niang an extremely intriguing prospect.

He also made a positive impression with the Italian national team at the last EuroBasket, averaging 10.2 points and 4.6 rebounds while shooting 50% from beyond the arc.

Niang set for NCAA move next season

After spending last season in the EuroLeague, Niang has committed to Louisiana State University and will continue his career in the NCAA.

Niang is expected to receive at least two years of NCAA eligibility, sources told BasketNews.
