Man Utd Reignite Move For £43M Rated Chelsea Star 3 Years After They Nearly Signed Him On Loan

Man Utd are keeping tabs on Marc Cucurella’s situation at Chelsea, according to reports in Spain.

Mundo Deportivo claim that the 27-year-old is hoping to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, and he is attracting interest from the Red Devils, Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Cucurella is closing in on the final 2 years of his contract, and there is an expectation that he will be let go for the right price.

It is believed that Chelsea may consider offers in the region of €40m (£35m) to €50m (£43m) for the Spanish international.

This is not the first time that Cucurella has been linked with United

During the summer of 2023, it was reported that the Red Devils were looking to snap up the left-back on loan. He had struggled during his first season at Chelsea following his £63m move from Brighton.

However, a switch to Old Trafford did not happen, with it being claimed that a £7m loan fee was demanded for Cucurella.

In the end, Erik ten Hag’s side opted to recruit Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham, who lasted just six months before moving back to North London.

Man Utd are keen on recruiting a left-back

While it seems unlikely that Cucurella will move up North, Director of Football Jason Wilcox is keen on providing more competition for Luke Shaw on the left-hand side of defence.

Newcastle’s Lewis Hall is said to be the preferred target, but his £60m-£70m asking price could prove prohibitive.

There is also interest in Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown, but it looks like Bayern Munich are very much favourites to secure the signature of the German.

Interestingly, Alejandro Balde is another option under consideration. It has been suggested that Barca would look to offload him if they win the race for Cucurella.
