After a strong season with Real Madrid, Trey Lyles is expected to leave the club. While the veteran forward is prioritizing a return to the NBA, EuroLeague powerhouses like Fenerbahce, Panathinaikos, and Dubai BC could be considered as potential landing spots for the Canadian forward.
Last summer, with Sergio Scariolo taking over as head coach of Real Madrid, the Spanish club targeted several players with NBA experience, most notably Trey Lyles.
The Canadian power forward had a full 10 years of NBA experience under his belt, including some rather lucrative contracts.
Real Madrid managed to convince him to try his hand in Europe with an attractive 1-year deal worth $2.5 million.
Lyles largely lived up to expectations during his first European season. He averaged 13.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game, shooting 45% from three-point range.
The Canadian player was a key contributor in the second half of Real Madrid's season, which saw the Spanish club reach the EuroLeague title game, ultimately losing to Olympiacos.
However, with his contract set to expire, it currently seems unlikely that Lyles will remain with Real Madrid.
The player has significant financial demands and is also drawn to the possibility of returning to the United States for another NBA stint.
If his departure from Real Madrid were to become a reality, what might be the most likely destinations for Lyles? What scenarios are conceivable?
I've tried to put together a few options for the Canadian power forward.
Returning to the NBA
When Trey Lyles decided to leave the NBA and join Real Madrid, many were surprised, given his established status as a solid rotation player.
In his final season with the Sacramento Kings, Lyles averaged nearly 20 minutes per game, earning just over $8 million.
In short, the Canadian player wasn't just another player looking for a two-way contract to get a chance in the NBA, but a true league veteran with more than 600 games played and several playoff appearances.

For this reason, a return to the NBA next season is a distinct possibility.
He is highly regarded by several NBA franchises and could return to fill the role of a veteran coming off the bench.
Lyles himself has never made a secret of his desire to return to the NBA. In many ways, this seems to be the most likely path for the Canadian player.
Fenerbahce
Next season, Fenerbahce are expected to overhaul their frontcourt significantly.
As of now, the only player certain to remain is Nicolò Melli, while everyone else is at risk of leaving. With a potential frontcourt restructuring looming, Fenerbahce have been keeping an eye on Trey Lyles for some time.
Mikael Jantunen's adjustment to the Turkish club hasn't been easy, and the Finnish player has struggled to make an impact, especially on offense.
With Lyles, a top-tier shooter, Jasikevicius would gain an additional weapon for his offense, making it more unpredictable and dangerous.
Of course, it will take a very substantial financial offer to convince the Canadian player to stay in Europe, but Fenerbahce should have what it takes to entice Lyles.
Hapoel Tel Aviv
Another team that could try to convince Trey Lyles to stay in Europe is undoubtedly Hapoel Tel Aviv.
The club's owner, Ofer Yannay, is certainly not one to skimp on expenses, and according to reports from various Israeli media outlets, he is reportedly ready to offer the Canadian player a contract worth nearly $4 million per season.

A power forward like Lyles could add even more quality to a roster that likely lacks a player of the Canadian's caliber at that position.
It remains to be seen whether Lyles is willing to play in Israel, given the ongoing conflict with Iran and the security risks for foreign players.
Dubai BC
Dubai has big ambitions for the upcoming season. With the next Final Four likely heading to Abu Dhabi, the Emirati team is aggressively bolstering its roster.
The Emirati club certainly has no shortage of financial resources, and a power forward of Trey Lyles' caliber could make the team even stronger heading into next season.
Furthermore, Lyles' skill set aligns well with the philosophy of incoming head coach Xavi Pascual.
If Lyles decides to remain in the EuroLeague, the combination of ambition and financial offer that Dubai can present to him would be hard to match.
Panathinaikos
Next season, several things could change at Panathinaikos.
After the disappointment of missing the EuroLeague Final Four, coach Ergin Ataman's future remains uncertain.
Ataman may not be the only departure, as several players face an uncertain future.

One of them is Juancho Hernangomez, and if the Spanish player does indeed leave the club, then Panathinaikos could seriously consider making a move for Trey Lyles.
The Canadian player could provide a potent scoring threat and solidify the power forward slot for the Greek giants.
Owner Giannakopoulos likely wouldn't hesitate to offer a lucrative contract to keep Lyles in Europe.
