The Kansas City Chiefs created a lot of noise throughout the offseason, including in the 2026 NFL Draft. They traded up for the No. 6 overall pick and selected seven total players, including two in the first round and two more in the fifth. The team also signed key veterans like reigning Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III.
The franchise plugged positional holes and added depth to different positions. Patrick Mahomes will lead the offense again in 2026, as he’s reportedly set to return inWeek 1. He is recovering from a torn ACL he sustained in December.
Kansas City likely aims to ease the star quarterback’s workload and keep him healthy for later in the campaign. The team traded for Justin Fields from the New York Jets in March to serve as an insurance policy at quarterback. The Chiefs recorded a 6-11 record in 2025 and missed the playoffs, marking their worst year in the Mahomes era.

It’s Sneed’s second stint with the Chiefs, following his 2020 to 2023 tenure with the team. The 29-year-old contributed to Kansas City’s Super Bowl-winning squads in 2023 and 2024. He is familiar with the team’s system, having played under head coach Andy Reid.
Mahomes’ Instagram story repost shows his excitement about reuniting with his former teammate. Sneed will also have a chance to play with Chris Jones and George Karlaftis again, among others.
