Spurs guard Stephon Castle has recorded the second-most (10) playoff games with at least 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in NBA history before turning 22, surpassing LeBron James and trailing only Magic Johnson.
San Antonio Spurs guard Stephon Castle is putting together an impressive first NBA playoff campaign in just his second season in the league.
His numbers continued to stand out after San Antonio's Game 3 win over the New York Knicks in the NBA Finals, placing him among some elite names in league history.
Castle joins elite company with Game 3 performance
Castle delivered 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists on Monday night at Madison Square Garden, helping the Spurs cut the Finals deficit.
With that performance, Castle now has the second-most playoff games with at least 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists before turning 22 in NBA history. He moved past LeBron James, who had nine such games before turning 22, and now trails only Magic Johnson, who recorded 11, according to Statmuse.
Castle also became the third-youngest player in NBA Finals history to score 20 or more points in a road game, behind only Magic Johnson and Tony Parker.
Castle and Wembanyama make Finals history
Castle was not the only young Spurs star to make history in Game 3.
Together with Victor Wembanyama, he became part of the youngest duo by average age in NBA history to each score 20 or more points in an NBA Finals game.
The Spurs pair broke the previous mark held by the iconic Los Angeles Lakers tandem of Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant.
Spurs look to carry momentum into Game 4
Riding the momentum of their historic performances, Wembanyama and Castle are expected to lead the Spurs again in Wednesday's pivotal Game 4 at Madison Square Garden.
San Antonio will have a chance to even the series at 2-2 before the NBA Finals shift back to San Antonio.
