Manchester City have locked down one of England’s brightest teenage prospects, handing a significant contract extension to Divine Mukasa.
Director of Football Hugo Viana has given the deal his strong seal of approval, praising the player’s development since arriving at the club.
Fresh off a productive second-half development loan with Leicester City last season, the 18-year-old playmaker is now poised for a direct first-team push.
Manchester City have announced a new long-term contract extension for highly-rated attacking midfielder Divine Mukasa.
The 18-year-old first joined City in 2023, starring for the club’s Under-18s and Elite Development Squad before earning a frequent place in Pep Guardiola’s squad during the course of last season.
Having made his senior Manchester City debut under the Catalan coach in September 2025, Mukasa has now totalled six appearances for the club’s first team before going on to record two goals and three assists in his six-month Championship loan spell at Leicester City.
Prior to his move to the King Power Stadium, Mukasa earned a pre-season friendly appearance against Palermo in August 2025, before a competitive debut in the Carabao Cup win away at Huddersfield Town.
Mukasa would also start against Swansea City and Brentford in the Carabao Cup en route to winning the competition at Wembley earlier this year, while also appearing twice as a substitute in the Premier League, and in the 10-1 FA Cup win over Exeter City.
Divine Mukasa commits future to Manchester City
Now, Manchester City have confirmed that Divine Mukasa has committed his long-term future to the Etihad Stadium by signing on to a new contract until the summer of 2030.
Speaking to the official club website after signing his new agreement, Mukasa said, “I am really excited to see what the future has in store for me. I have learnt so much since the day I arrived at the Club from players and staff alike. The experiences I have gained have definitely bettered me as a player and a person.
“With this said, I can only use the environment to continue to progress. My taste of first team football at City earlier last season has only furthered my ambition to compete at the highest level.”
Offering his take on the development, Director of Football Hugo Viana said, “In Divine, I feel we have someone with huge potential. It’s really good news that he has decided to extend his stay with us. Since he came to City in 2023, he has consistently improved and developed.
“He works hard, shows humility and is eager to learn. That is a great combination for any young footballer. He has shown really positive development throughout his loan at Leicester, and we are excited to see him develop further over the coming seasons.
“I am really pleased for Divine – he deserves this.”
This is a developing story. More to follow.
