The Las Vegas Raiders drafted quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the number one overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft from the Indiana Hoosiers. Las Vegas has a new head coach as well this year. Klint Kubiak is the new Raiders head coach, and he was the Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator last season. Las Vegas is thinking about the long-term and not the short-term.

There are questions about whether or not Mendoza is going to be the starting quarterback for the Raiders this upcoming NFL season. For now, it appears if veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins is in line to start for Las Vegas at the beginning of the 2026 NFL season. With mandatory minicamp on the horizon, where does the Raiders quarterback depth chart stand at?

With mandatory minicamp under this week for teams across the NFL, many are wondering what the Raiders quarterback depth chart looks like. Ryan McFadden of espn.com said,
“During OTAs, Kirk Cousins worked solely with the first team, followed by Aidan O’Connell with the second team and rookie Fernando Mendoza playing with the third team. That wasn’t surprising, given Mendoza is still learning the system and the Raiders are being patient with his development. But will those reps change during minicamp?
Mendoza has impressed the coaches and teammates with his work ethic and ability to pick things up quickly. It’s not guaranteed, but it wouldn’t be surprising if the Raiders switch up the quarterback reps a bit to see where Mendoza is at before they take a monthlong break ahead of training camp.”
It is interesting that Aidan O’Connell is listed ahead of Mendoza on the Raiders quarterback depth chart at the moment. At some point, the former Hoosiers quarterback will surpass O’Connell on the depth chart. Mendoza will probably be the second quarterback on the depth chart behind Cousins when training camp rolls around here.
