The Philadelphia 76ers have a lot of areas on the roster to fix this offseason, but once again, their need to bolster the center position takes primacy. Just like clockwork, the front office should be desperate to find backup options for Joel Embiid, whose load will remain heavily managed moving forward.
Fortunately for the 76ers, they could end up benefiting thanks to a likely fallout from a recent free agency rumor. Quinten Post, who has been a serviceable big man for the Warriors in the last couple of seasons, could end up being the odd man out in Golden State as the Dubs seek to keep Kristaps Porzingis in the fold.
According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, should the Warriors fail to keep Porzingis, they are expected to be on the lookout for another big man. That is certainly pretty telling of what their brain trust thinks of Post. As such, that could very well constitute a pathway for him to don a different jersey next season. Alas, the 76ers should put forth a case to be that squad.

Post, who was selected by the Warriors with the 52nd overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, ended up being one of the most productive second-round selections from his draft class. However, his tenure in San Francisco could very be coming to an end given how their front office is earnestly looking for an alternative if Porzingis leaves despite his status as a restricted free agent.
In that case, the 76ers should seriously think about targeting him in the open market. As what this season proved to them, this team would benefit greatly from having a true and blue stretch five to make life easier for their stars on the offensive end. Andre Drummond served that role this season, but he is not reliable enough on that front.
Post shot just 33.6 percent from three-point range this season, but he is not far removed from his impressive shooting display in his rookie campaign where he canned nearly 41 percent of his triples. And unlike Drummond, he is someone who is comfortable hoisting a lot of shots from rainbow country.
The 76ers need more playable bodies to help Embiid properly load-manage next season. That makes Quinten Post an appealing option in the open market, especially since his long-range shooting would go a long way for this particular group.
