Long after Laura Ingraham of Fox News told LeBron James to “shut up and dribble,” the Los Angeles Lakers star reacted to the comments.
In Time's new interview with James, he discussed Ingraham's past comments, which caused him to laugh. However, he wants to be clear — he doesn't watch Fox News.
“I was like, ‘Oh man, this white last is telling this Black man to shut up and dribble. Are you kidding me?'” James said, recalling his reaction to the comments. “You can put that in all caps. I definitely don't watch Fox News.”
He doubled down by saying that Ingraham “had no idea what she just started,” promising it was “about to be the complete opposite.”
James then dropped the mic, “She was like one of them schoolteachers, telling you to stop talking in the back and be quiet. But she didn’t realize I was the dean. This is my school.”

In 2018, Ingraham responded to James' comments about President Donald Trump during an episode of Rolling With The Champion.
“This is what happens when you attempt to leave high school a year early to join the NBA. It's always unwise to seek political advice from someone who gets paid $100m a year to bounce a ball… Millions elected Trump to be their coach. So keep the political commentary to yourself, or as someone once said, shut up and dribble.”
The comments made waves around the NBA. Several, including former San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich, who called it “an unbelievable show of arrogance.”
“[LeBron James is] very, very special and we should all be very proud that we have somebody like that who’s willing to speak about a variety of topics,” he said.
