The Cleveland Browns made a massive move this offseason, trading Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams for a huge return, including Jared Verse.
With Verse coming to town, the new Browns star edge rusher took on No. 8, which was Dillon Gabriel's jersey, and the Browns quarterback was set to change his number. But there was some uncertainty about what number he'd wear,
However, as shared by the Browns on Twitter/x, Gabriel has changed his jersey number to No. 6. After pivoting from No. 8, Gabriel sticks in the single-digits and will don No. 6 for his sophomore season.

The Browns' left-handed quarterback is wearing the number last worn by Jremiah Owusu-Koramoah, a standout defender who is unfortunately out for the 2026 season already.
Across Browns history, No. 6 has been worn by a few different players. Owusu-Koramoah was the most recent player to wear this jersey number, but in the past, there have been some notable names who also donned No. 6 for Cleveland.
Baker Mayfield wore No. 6 for a few years from 2018 through 2021, and before him, Cody Kessler had the jersey number in 2016 and 2017.

Travis Coons wore No. 6 in 2015, and Brian Hoyer had it in 2013 and 2014. Back in 2010 and 2011, Seneca Wallace wore No. 6, making up the last 20 years of Browns players to wear this jersey.
It's a mixed bag of players for the Browns, with Gabriel becoming the fifth quarterback to wear this jersey number in recent years.
While there was some question over what jersey number Gabriel would get, he's landed on No. 6, as the Browns QB is sticking in the single-digits after moving on from No. 8.
