“If Armstead Does Get Released”: NFL Analyst Urges the Green Bay Packers to Sign Arik Armstead…

The Green Bay Packers are probably not going to have edge rusher Micah Parsons for the first month of the 2026 NFL regular season as he is still recovering from a torn ACL injury he suffered last December in a game against the Denver Broncos. Parsons will hope to make an impact for Green Bay when he returns to the field.

Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley hugs defensive end Micah Parsons (1) as defensive end Rashan Gary (52) looks on before their game against the Detroit Lions Sunday, September 7, 2025 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

For now, the Packers will need other players to step up in his absence. Green Bay’s defense was not the same when he was off the field a season ago. They may need to make a trade or a free agent signing before the 2026 NFL season if the Packers defense is going to improve before the year starts.

NFL Analyst Urges the Green Bay Packers to Sign Arik Armstead if the Jacksonville Jaguars Release Him

Alex Kay of bleacherreport.com thinks that it is possible that the Jacksonville Jaguars could potentially release defensive end Arik Armstead before the start of the 2026 NFL season. He thinks that if that were to happen, Green Bay would be a perfect fit for him. Kay said,

“If Armstead does get released, there will likely be several teams clamoring for his services.

The Green Bay Packers have been looking to get over the playoff hump after several fruitless trips and could benefit mightily from a grizzled veteran like Armstead joining their side. The Pack have a talented but young defensive line, one that could use a mentor and part-time rotational piece like Armstead to push them to the next level.

Potential Landing Spot: Green Bay Packers”

It would be silly for Jacksonville to release him for this season. The Jaguars did go 13-4 last season in Liam Coen’s first season. The defense was pretty good. Jacksonville thinks they can be a serious contender in the AFC once again this season. While him potentially landing in Green Bay would be a good thought for Packers fans, it makes more sense for Armstead to be on the Jaguars this season also.
