The stars were out at Madison Square Garden to watch the New York Knicks' Game 3 of the NBA Finals, but San Antonio Spurs rookie guard Dylan Harper didn't care.
After Game 3, Harper talked to Scott Van Pelt about the star power at the Garden. He claimed that Jay-Z walked by him, and instead of saying anything to him, he “acted like I didn't see him.”
Dylan Harper:
"Before the game we came out and Jay Z just walked by me"
SVP: Did you say what's up?
"No"
Did you make eye contact?

This received a range of responses on social media. One Spurs fan said, “That's my rookie. Jay who?” while another said, “[Admitting you're] fake on national TV is crazy.”
We'll have to wait and see if Harper changes his tune the next time he runs into the “Empire State of Mind” rapper, especially if the Spurs are able to win the NBA Finals.

Harper played a lot of meaningful minutes in Game 3, checking in for 32 minutes. He scored 13 points, but he only made five of his 18 shots, including going 1-8 on three-pointers.
Statistically, this was his worst game of the series. Not only was it his lowest scoring output, but he was also more inefficient than ever.
Harper was selected with the second-overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft out of Rutgers. He played for Rutgers from 2024 to 2025. He played in 69 games, starting four of them, during his rookie regular season in the NBA. Harper averaged 11.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game.
The Spurs went into Madison Square Garden and won Game 3. They had dropped the first two games in front of their home crowd.
It was a back-and-forth contest. New York held the lead going into halftime, but the Spurs regained the lead and were able to hold on. They only won by four points, but they shaved the Knicks' series lead to one.
