Arsenal have Morgan Gibbs-White in their sights this summer, as transfer news continues to build around Arteta’s plans to reinforce his Premier League title-winning squad.
Rogers remains Arteta’s top priority but price is a real barrier
Mikel Arteta is personally driving Arsenal’s summer recruitment, as reported by TEAMtalk. Having ended a 22-year wait to win the Premier League title, the Spaniard is now fully focused on building a squad that can defend it. Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers is his top target, with Arsenal seeing the 23-year-old as a key signing this window.
Arteta believes Rogers gives his front line the versatility it needs, with the Villa man able to play across multiple attacking positions. The 23-year-old was one of the most exciting players in English football last season, pushing Villa deep into European competition while staying consistent in the league.
However, as reported by Goal, Villa will hold firm on their valuation, with figures suggesting the fee could climb toward the £100 million mark after a strong domestic and European campaign last season.
Morgan Rogers’ Stats (2025/26 Season), as per FotMob:
Competition Appearances Goals Assists
Premier League 37 10 6
Europa League 15 3 5
FA Cup 2 1 0
Morgan Gibbs-White in numbers makes him a serious option
As reported by the Sun, if the Rogers deal does not work out, Gibbs-White has emerged as a serious alternative. The Forest captain was at his brilliant best this season, netting 18 goals across all competitions and helping drag his side all the way to the Europa League semi-finals.
His 15 league goals made him the second highest-scoring Englishman in the division, just behind Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, as per Skysports. Gibbs-White can both create and score from a deeper role, and those numbers fit exactly what Arteta needs this summer. At 26, he is entering the best years of his career, making him a smart long-term signing for a club that wants to win titles.
Gibbs-White made no secret of his anger after missing out on England’s World Cup squad. As reported by goal, “I know myself that I have done more than enough to be in the squad,” he said. “I got on the wrong side of someone’s opinion.”
Gibbs-White’s Stats (2025/26 Season), as per FotMob:
Competition Appearances Goals Assists
Premier League 37 15 4
Europa League 14 3 3
FA Cup 1 0 0
PSG competition and Forest resistance could shape Arsenal’s window
As reported by Football.london, Paris Saint-Germain, who beat Arsenal on penalties in the Champions League final, are also tracking Rogers this summer. Their involvement adds real pressure to what is already a complex transfer news situation for Arsenal. The French giants have the money to compete with the Gunners, and their interest could force a decision sooner rather than later.
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has made it clear he wants to keep his best players this summer. Gibbs-White’s contract runs until 2028, giving the club every reason to hold firm on their asking price. Adding to that, Elliot Anderson is attracting interest from Manchester City and Manchester United. Forest value the midfielder at around £100 million, and the club could face transfer battles on multiple fronts this window.
As per the goal, Forest manager Vitor Pereira put it simply: “The market is the market.” For Gibbs-White, a move to the Emirates might be exactly what he needs to remind those who doubted him just how good he is.
