Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai scored and captained Hungary as they came from behind to beat Kazakhstan 3-1 in a friendly in Debrecen on Tuesday evening.

Hungary were trailing at half-time before Szoboszlai levelled the match with a close-range finish from a low cross. He later provided an assist from a short free-kick, which Andras Schafer converted with a strike into the top corner from distance.

The game also marked a milestone for Liverpool goalkeeper Armin Pecsi, who made his senior international debut after coming on just past the hour mark.

The 21-year-old earned his first appearance for Hungary in the comeback victory. Liverpool left-back Milos Kerkez, meanwhile, was not named in the squad for the friendly.

Pecsi joined Liverpool in the summer of 2025 after a deal was agreed with Puskas Akademia. Born in Hainburg an der Donau in Austria, he represents Hungary at the youth international level.

The goalkeeper enjoyed a breakout 2024–25 season, helping Puskas Akademia secure a second-place finish in Hungary’s top flight and earning a nomination for the Golden Boy award.

Since arriving at Anfield, Pecsi has featured in a pre-season friendly against Athletic Club and has become a regular for Liverpool’s U21 side. He was also nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award in January 2026.

Pecsi recently described Alisson Becker as the “perfect” goalkeeper, while praising the strong group of goalkeepers he works with at AXA Training Centre.

The young goalkeeper has also trained with Liverpool’s senior options, including Alisson and Giorgi Mamardashvili, and says he is a major admirer of the Brazil No. 1.

“Every detail of him is so perfect and is the same every time,” Pecsi told club media of Alisson. “He makes things look so easy – and this is the hard part, to learn this and to make this happen on the pitch.

“He’s a really nice guy and it’s good to see him in training – same with Giorgi [Mamardashvili] and Freddie [Woodman] because all of them are a little bit different. They’re all top, top goalkeepers. From everyone you can learn from something.”

Pecsi could get the opportunity to impress head coach Andoni Iraola during pre-season, with the young goalkeeper aiming to make an impression after stepping up to senior training environments.
