Although George Pickens signed his franchise tag for the 2026-27 season, the star wide receiver is still in a contract standoff with the Dallas Cowboys. With mandatory minicamp set to begin on June 16, Dak Prescott opens up about not having heard from Pickens since April.
The 32-year-old quarterback claimed he is not worried about Pickens' status whatsoever, according to Todd Archer of ESPN. Overall, Prescott just looks forward to working and preparing for the upcoming season with Pickens, whenever that may be.
“Dak Prescott hasn't had any talks with George Pickens about his attending next week's minicamp, and his last throwing session with him was back in April,” reported Archer.
“I'm excited about when he gets in and the work that we're going to have to build off of,” said Prescott about Pickens. “But George is George, and he's fine.”

George Pickens, who is 25 years old, experienced a career year in his first season with the Cowboys. The four-year veteran finished the 2025-26 campaign with 93 receptions for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns, all of which are career-highs. Pickens has been seeking a long-term contract since the end of last season.
He ultimately agreed to sign a one-year, $27.3 million fully guaranteed franchise tag in the offseason. However, since then, Pickens and the Cowboys have continued negotiating a possible extension. But a deal before the start of the 2026-27 campaign is not guaranteed.
Mandatory minicamp is scheduled for June 16. So, that might be when Dak Prescott finally gets to work with George Pickens again. The Cowboys also won't start training camp until late July.
