Through the first two games of the NBA Finals, the series is averaging 16.68 million viewers, making it the most-watched Finals series since 2018, with LeBron James' Cleveland Cavaliers going up against Steph Curry and Kevin Durant's Golden State Warriors. Game one of the series also drew a massive audience, with 16.93 million viewers and peaking at 19.63 million.

Both games were tightly contested throughout, as neither team managed to gain a decisive advantage. Game one saw the San Antonio Spurs weather an early scoring surge from the New York Knicks and take a lead they maintained for much of the game. Before the Knicks took the lead early in the fourth quarter, they had maintained control of the game and won 105-95.
In Game 2, the Spurs took a 102-104 lead with 57.3 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Before a Jalen Brunson fadeaway tied the game, Victor Wembanyama threw the ball away on an errant pass to Stephon Castle. The Spurs found themselves in a position to win the game, but Wembanyama missed a 21-footer that would have sealed the win with two seconds left.
The surge in interest around the NBA is sustained and will likely result in another huge rating after the competitive display in Game 3 on Monday evening.
